Currently, the prestige and positive aspects of laser eye surgery have been widely publicized. This form of surgical treatment is basically performed to correct vision problems. In general, this irreversible surgery will enable the patients to restore normal vision during the remaining of the life. This is the most significant benefit of laser eye surgery. In fact, it is wise for every patient to be well-informed about the whole procedure. Both those benefits and risks should be taken into account. It is commonly known that laser eye surgery has limitations and possible complications. To some extent, the pros and cons drive some patients into a dilemma. Leaving the defective eyes untreated, it may lead to visual loss as they age. In contrast, receiving a laser eye surgery is coupled with potential risks.

The retina in the eye is a layer of cells that senses light. Laser eye surgery is actually aimed to reshape the cornea, so as to make the light entering the eye focus directly on the retina. In detail, the surgeon will cut a corneal flap and under it some corneal tissues will be removed in order to change its curvature. In general, lifting and putting back the flap is inconvenient, albeit uncomfortable. One of the possible complications after the surgery is flap dislocation. It is lucky that this condition can usually be avoided through enough sleep. There are some other negative conditions postoperatively such as under-corrected or over-corrected. Side effects such as eye infection or irritation occur even more frequently.

It is a necessity to have a check with the surgeon whether you are a good candidate for laser eye surgery. A responsible surgeon will explain all those potential risks and complications extensively associated with the surgery. In addition, the surgeon who will conduct the surgery is always determinative to the success of the procedure. So, it is imperative for patients to be educated and informed of the surgeon’s skills and experience.

Are you tired of wearing eyeglasses? Have you ever heard of Lasik surgery? Have you ever thought to have such a surgery to get your eyesight back? If your answers to these questions are yes, you need to consider this question: are you a candidate for the Lasik surgery? The fact is that not everyone is qualified to have such a surgery. Having it blindly may result in serious eye problems. Loss of vision is possible. Here below are some requirements for the candidate for a Lasik surgery. Check and find whether you are qualified.
Firstly, you have to be over 18 years old, or you would be too young to have such a surgery, for your eyes are in the stage of growth and there are too many variations in procedure for them.
Secondly, a current and valid prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses is needed. If you do not have, get one in an eye care center or hospital, and if you’ve already had one, the prescription should not be older than 2 years, which is supposed to accurately reflect your eye condition.
Thirdly, an appropriate corneal thickness is another condition for a good Lasik surgery candidate. Only when the cornea is thick enough can a correct flap be created to simulate the depth. In addition, the pupil distance should be within seven millimeters.
Fourthly, you are not supposed to have any eye diseases, and you’d better have never suffered from any eye diseases before. This is fairly important, or serious problems would be caused due to the unstable eye condition. Specifically speaking, a good Lasik eye surgery candidate should not have any herpes infection in the eye, should not experience Lupus, Hepatitis, Crohn and any other autoimmune diseases, should not suffer from the dry eye syndrome, should not be pregnant and should have cataract, advanced glaucoma, corneal disease, corneal thinning disorders or other pre-existing eye diseases. If you do want to get a Lasik surgery, but you have had eye diseases, you are suggested to get one at least one year after you recover from the diseases.
Despite that those requirements are fussy, remember that all of them are fairly important for your eye health if you want to undergo a Lasik eye surgery. Risks exist, so you should learn them thoroughly, and then you will experience an improved vision.

Talking abut Laser eye surgery, LASIK eye surgery will come into most people’s minds. But do you know in some cases LASIK eye surgery can not work? Though LASIK eye surgery has less time for recovery and less pain, do you know there will be higher possibilities for complications and side effects? So under certain conditions, in order to treat our eye problems successfully, we have to resort to PRK for help. PRK is another kind of Laser eye surgery, which stands for photorefractive keratectomy. The following will introduce PRK in order to make people to know more about it.

For people who have thinner corneas, dryer eyes or other special conditions, the surgeon will not advise to perform LASIK eye surgery, but PRK instead. So PRK is considered to be a good alternative to LASIK eye surgery. PRK has the feature of longer recovery time, but less risk of complications.

You may wonder to know the procedure of PRK. The following will give some introduction on that. First, surgeons will place a ring on the surgical corneal area, in order to reduce the bonds of the corneal epithelium, he will use alcohol to fill it. Then the inner corneal layer will be exposed after moving the outer corneal layers by a surgical brush. Next, the laser will start to work. The surgeon will use an excimer laser, same as that used in LASIK eye surgery, to ablate and reshape the inner layers of the cornea. And then he will place a bandage contact lens over the surgical area. The functions of the lens are on one hand to permit the re-epithelialization of the cornea, on the other hand, to protect the cornea and make people more comfortable. For the contact lens, patients should bear in mind to test the contact lens on the eye to check if it is ok or if there is any infection of the wound.

The post operation care is also important for the success of PRK surgery. The contact lens can be removed between 4 to 7 days once the epithelium is fully healed. It is important we should try our best to avoid infection during this period. In common cases, patients have to use a topical antibiotic for not less than a week, such as Zymar, and a topical steroid for more than 6 weeks as well, like FML, which can reduce the swelling and improve patient comforts. But these two are not applicable for all patients, for example, if people have corneal haze or are allergy to certain drops, they have to use other eye drops. It is advised to follow your eye doctor’s instructions.

Many patients may have heard of the fact that the cost of laser eye surgery usually varies significantly from surgeon to surgeon. As the most popular type of laser eye surgery, a typical LASIK may charge a patient a price ranging from $499 to $2,500. Known by the public, the price of LASIK surgery is set on a per-eye basis, because some patients only need to have their one eye treated. There are many contributors to this huge price gap. They include the area of the country, the level of experience a surgeon possesses, the technology used in the surgery as well as the degree of the refractive error a patient suffers. These elements are usually included by all surgeries. However, there are actually some optional items which may also contribute to the total cost of a LASIK surgery.

The price of LASIK surgery sometimes includes royalties owned by laser manufacturers. It always contains the purchase and maintenance of surgical and technical equipments that are necessary during the procedure. Regular instruments are also needed, such as surgical gowns, gloves, masks, and other sterile and disposable materials. In some cases, surgical and office facilities are borrowed from other organizations so that rent fees are required. Surgical and office staff salaries also account for a portion of the LASIK price. Moreover, most surgical centers need to issue advertisements from time to time, which involve advertising fees. The cost of LASIK sometimes also includes items such as pre- and post-operative treatments. Medications used before, during and after LASIK surgery are usually a necessity, including anesthesia, eye drops and oral pain medications. In rare cases, post-surgical enhancement also charges a higher price.

The price of LASIK may also contributed by the type of technology used during the operation. For instance, LASIK with IntraLase which uses a laser rather than a microkeratome blade to create the corneal flap costs typically $250 to $500 more per eye. In modern time, the invention of wavefront technology also brings higher prices.

Living in the modern society, a lot of individuals are tied down to eyeglasses or contact lenses because of different vision conditions such as nearsightedness and farsightedness. These vision corrective devices do offer great help. However, there are still unacceptable disadvantages associated with wearing glasses or contacts. These solutions only offer clear vision temporarily. It is still impossible to see the alarm clock clearly when a person opens his or her eyes in the morning, because the eyes are still impaired. Since the introduction of LASIK surgery, those bothered patients have another perfect option. The most significant breakthrough brought by LASIK procedure is that vision correction is permanent. Knowing this basic and most important benefit, patients may still wonder that “what to expect after LASIK”.

This is a question asked most frequently during the first meeting between a patient and a surgeon. To a certain degree, it is the commonest concern in patients regarding LASIK surgery. It is safe to say that most patients can expect immediately improved vision after LASIK. Figures show that the overall satisfaction rate reaches 95%, among all patients undergoing the procedure. They will feel pleased to have great visual enjoyment. In most cases, a patient’s eyesight after LASIK is unusually crisp and clear, while staying natural. In particular, some patients even describe the results as miraculous because that they report crisper vision than they have ever experienced in any way. Furthermore, the significant vision improvement is achieved unbelievably within half an hour. Those immediate and drastic results will help patients get rid of eyeglasses or contact lenses in the long run.

Even if the benefits of LASIK far outweigh its disadvantages, it is necessary to give an objective answer to the question stated in the first paragraph. It is very important to keep proper expectation from LASIK before the surgery. This procedure is not 100% safe and brings good outcomes forever. It is necessary to balance the potential risks and complications against wanted enjoyment in a personal way.

The fact that LASIK price is charged on a per eye basis has been widely known by the public. But the exact or average price of LASIK surgery has never been clear. Knowing that there is a wide range of LASIK price, patients and their family members may want to have a clear point about what figures make up the total cost of the surgery. The price is a major factor that is always carefully considered by LASIK candidates. Some factors can be easily imaginable, like the skill and experience level of the surgeon, the technology that will be used, the region in the United States and the amount of correction the eye to be treated needs. However, many other factors are implicit to the majority of patients.

Most patients will be asked to receive prior tests and screening which involve some technologies. For instance, different technologies will be used to measure the corneal thickness, tear film analysis, the topography of the cornea as well as some other necessary measurements. These measurements play a major role in determining how exactly and precisely the cornea can be shaped during the surgery. In fact, these tasks are indispensible preparation before LASIK surgery. Of course, these measurements account for part of the total cost. Factors associated with the surgeon are also decisive, like the skill level, any accreditations he may have and memberships in national organizations, experience level and the difficulty of the surgery.

LASIK surgery requires the surgeon to use instruments which are regulated by U.S. laws to be used on the patient only once and immediately discarded. Such kind of cost will always be included in the price of LASIK procedure. Specific technologies used during the surgery are a major part of LASIK cost. Excimer laser is the most basic laser applied in LASIK procedure. This kind of laser has been in practice for many years and been considered to be quite reliable. In addition, newer laser technologies will usually cost more than the standard laser.

Short for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, LASIK surgery is a popular solution to eye problems especially refractive errors. People with medium and advanced education must have heard of it. LASIK is actually one type of refractive laser surgery that deals with common refractive visual errors, including hyperopia, myopia and astigmatism. As a good alternative to prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses, LASIK has gained much popularity among vision-defected individuals. This is not only because of its advantage over spectacles and contacts, but also its advantages over other forms of laser visual correcting surgeries.

LASIK procedure is not a surgery for any person. Only individuals who suffer from certain eye conditions can benefit from LASIK eye surgery. As aforementioned, only three forms of visual defects are resolvable by LASIK procedure, namely, nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. These are formally called visual refractive errors. These correctable eye conditions have their respective features. Nearsightedness causes it difficult to see objects at a distance while farsightedness plays in an opposite way. Astigmatism is a condition that involves deformities or irregularities on the lenses of the eyes, resulting in distorted images.

People with any of these three visual conditions are potential candidates for LASIK eye surgery. However, it is also necessary for patients to make a prior consultation with an eye doctor or surgeon about individual visual details. There are commonly known pros and cons of LASIK procedure. In addition, this advanced surgery is likely to generate different degrees of outcomes. Some patients can only receive a certain degree of visual improvement, while some others are lucky enough to gain complete visual restoration. It is very necessary to evaluate carefully potential risks and disadvantages associated with LASIK procedure. For some patients, these disadvantages may outweigh those potential benefits. Price is another factor that is widely assessed. LASIK price typically ranges from $1,000 to $2,500.

As a large company specializing in performing LASIK surgeries, LASIK Plus now accounts for approximately 15% of all LASIK procedures conducted in the United States. In general, LASIK Plus as a national chain is a decent and affordable option for patients who are considering the LASIK surgery. Like many traditional and private doctors, LASIK Plus charges an average price per eye ranging from $1,500 to $1,800. Over the years, LASIK Plus has been recognized as a renowned LASIK center, similar to LensCrafters or Pearle Vision. Statistics show that the majority of patients who have had LASIK surgery at LASIK Plus give a satisfactory review. LASIK Plus claims a list of additional advantages compared with other LASIK centers.

Prior consultation is usually inevitable for each patient that is interested in LASIK. Flattering this demand, LASIK Plus offers completely free consultation as well as comprehensive eye examination whether a patient chooses to receive the surgery. In detail, the eye exam offered by LASIK Plus is consisted of measurements involving corneal thickness, topography, wavefront, multiple-pupil, pupil dilation as well as other refractive tests. A second advantage kept by LASIK Plus is that all surgeons specialize only in LASIK surgeries. Latest technologies and techniques of LASIK surgery are always in their mind. These surgeons never treat any other eye conditions nor perform any other surgeries.

LASIK Plus as a national chain maintains many centers across the country, where up to date and advanced technologies and equipment are provided. This is an incomparable advantage over other private physicians who are often unaffordable to purchase the expensive equipment. Advanced technology and latest equipment kept by LASIK Plus enable surgeons to carry out a successful surgery in a higher chance. For people who have difficulty in paying the price at one time, LASIK Plus offers financing plans through a financing company called CareCredit. In addition, patients can gain a 15% discount with personal regular vision plan from LASIK Plus.

There is a valuable opportunity for people with certain eye problems that they can take LASIK eye surgery to get rid of glasses or contact lenses in their later life. So the problem is if there are any methods that can help us to finance the LASIK eye surgery cost in order to have good vision without glasses. The following will introduce several options for people who want to take this surgery but don’t know how to finance it.

Usually, LASIK surgery cost is not covered in our vision insurance plans as it is regarded as an elective cosmetic procedure, instead of a medical procedure, so people have to pay on their own bill. In order to enjoy good eyesight as soon as possible, we should learn to some methods to finance the LASIK surgery.

Though LASIK surgery cost is not covered in our insurance plans, some national chain centers can offer us certain discount. These chain centers are specialized in LASIK surgeries. So we can consult in these centers for information and help.

Generally, people have to pay all the LASIK surgery cost by themselves. But have you thought of some people can be free of charge for this surgery? This needs you to learn more about the conditions which can subsidize the cost. Take military personnel as an example, they have the right to receive free LASIK surgery cost.

Besides the above options, we can also ask banks and financial institutions for help. Actually, there are some banks or national financial institutions that can offer loads and financing options for people to take LASIK eye surgery. In addition, some private financing companies can also offer some basic loads for LASIK eye surgery. When we apply for loads or financial options, we need to provide the information to prove we have a good credit.

After learning where to get financial options, we should also keep in mind the following important point, or else our efforts will come in vain. The important point is to check if your appointed surgeon works with these institutions’ and companies’ programs, though most LAISK doctors can work with payments from a financial institution. Before we decide to apply for financing from these institutions, it is wise to double check if it works.

LASIK surgery is very popular among glasses wearers, but only few have clear idea about it. It is the abreaction for laser in situ keratomileusis. As its name suggests, laser is the tool and corneal flap is the target to be operated. Some common eye problems and refractive errors can be cured by it.

Then, what is cornea? Cornea is a kind transparent membrane that covers the eyes. And during LASIK surgery, some work will be done onto it.

In fact, the history of LASIK surgery is no less than two decades. But it has benefited a lot of people. For example, people who do not want to wear glasses or contact lenses can receive this surgery. During this procedure, some flaps will be made on the cornea. After that the flap will be pulled back.

LASIK surugery can treat some common eye problems, like myopia and hyperopia. Also it can cure some other serious eye problems, like astigmatism. During this surgery, the deformed cornea will be readjusted into its original shape with laser.

Still, a good eye doctor plays crucial role in the surgery. Usually, the doctor will tell whether one is a good candidate for the surgery. However the situations are; they will give the best and practicable suggestions for the receiver.

All in all, little time will be used in the operation and recovery of lasik surgery. Receivers can also go home after the surgery. Ultimately, lasik surgery is really good for its ideal candidates.
